No, 1/16 is not a special date, it is how much I am a Cherokee. I have always had some tie to my lineage. From always loving nature, to my cheek bones, to my way to connect with my family via thought signals, and from my way of always finding my way. There are many of things that amaze me about other cultures. But my lineage makes me even more curious. I want to connect more to it. When my sister came from OK, she told me little about our family. She told me that I am related to a chief, how amazingly cool is that? She also told me that in some schools they are teaching their students to speak Cherokee. Hopefully one day soon I will be able to explore OK and learn even more. Until then, I will connect through my choice of fashion. I have been drawn to dream catcher necklaces, feathered necklaces/hair pieces, moccasins, Geo print, fringe, etc. Not because it is what is "in" but I feel more connected, I guess.
